The gym is a temple of iron. Just like any temple, it has rules. Respecting these unspoken laws creates a better environment for everyone.
1. Rack Your Weights
This is the golden rule of fitness. If you are strong enough to lift the dumbbells, you are strong enough to put them back on the rack. Leaving weights on the floor is disrespectful to the next person and the gym owner.
2. Wipe Down Your Sweat
Nobody wants to sit in a puddle of your sweat on the bench press. Carry a towel, or use the gym's cleaning spray when you're done with a machine.
3. Don't Curl in the Squat Rack
The squat rack is for squats, overhead presses, and heavy rack pulls. Doing bicep curls in the only squat rack in a crowded gym is a cardinal sin.
4. Respect the Headphones
If someone is wearing headphones, it means they are in the zone. Do not interrupt their set to make small talk. Wait until they rest.
"The gym is a brotherhood. We respect the iron, and we respect each other."
5. Ask Before Taking
If a dumbbell or plate is near someone, simply ask "Bhai, are you using this?" before walking away with it. Common courtesy goes a long way.
